On 17-18th of November 2016 the first international conference on risk-based milk safety control systems took place in Kyiv. The conference was organized by the Swiss-Ukrainian Milk Safety Project with support of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The conference was attended by 126 participants: representatives of State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (central level and directorates from oblasts), Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, associations of milk producers and processors, international projects and organizations, as well as dairy enterprises – partners of the project. International experts on milk quality and safety were among the speakers at the conference.
The main topics of the conference were: the development of dairy business in Ukraine, the requirements of the new food legislation in Ukraine, risk-based inspection, organic milk production in Ukraine, the best practices of the production and processing of milk etc.
Wim Wismans, DUDC project leader, was one of the speakers of the conference. He told about importance of food safety and indivimual milk control for the Dairy Farms in Ukraine.
